About me

Although I started out as a Physics teacher I also have a background teaching and tutoring Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Numeracy, and Computer Science. I now spend my time as a lecturer and tutor on Initial Teacher Training courses at MMU and supervise Masters students on the MA Education course.

In the past my students have ranged from the ages of 11 to 65, but I now specialise in teacher training and 16-18 Physics. I hold teaching certification for England and Wales, Scotland, and New Zealand. I’m also a governor at a large FE college in Yorkshire.

I have previously been in management and advisory roles with responsibilities that have included curriculum design, data analysis, EdTech, recruitment, staff mentoring, and the pastoral care of 800 students on vocational courses.

I’m a big fan of the open-source movement, and think that it can only benefit academia in the long run. In my spare time I enjoy running, boxing, being outdoors, comic books, and various ‘nerdy’ pursuits. I’m also a massive beer geek.
